Here's to deep Summer
Here's to deep summer, where laziness finds respectability.
Summer certainly brings a feeling of celebration. We tried these festive cocktails this past weekend kicking off the summer in style. We popped into the local Publix market in Jupiter Farms, FL to pick a few ingredients and then next door to Country Liquors for the essentials.

And what better ingredient to use this time of year than fresh, juicy watermelon.
Watermelon Breeze

Our first cocktail was voted the best of the day by our veteran panel of experts. Blend watermelon, coconut water, fresh lime and mint for delicious a treat. To truly make it a celebration we added a layer of light rum and a watermelon garnish. Yum!
Hemingway Daiquiri

This was my favorite of the day. The recipe calls for fresh lime and grapefruit juice, maraschino liquor and light rum. We substituted black cherry rum with a dash of bitters for the maraschino liquor and it was very good. A sophisticated drink, suited best for the evening.
Rum Punch with Melon Balls

The last concoction was a traditional Rum Punch. Fresh pineapple and lime juice, ginger ale with a splash of bitters and light rum. We dropped in melon balls and floated a splash of dark rum to round out the oldie' but a goodie' cocktail.
Summer
Hair gets lighter. Skin gets darker. Water gets warmer.
Drinks get colder. Music gets louder. Nights get longer.
Life gets better.
